I haven't been painting any blooms lately. Not much going on in my garden now. What with the end of the growing season growing near and the drought not much blooming here. I did find some interesting seed pods in the garden. The yucca seed pods are so stiff and hard. They are intersting to look at though. The Cardinal vine is just the opposite. It is soft and light as air to handle.
At the park I found four different types of acorns as we walked Luna. I don't know which oak they come from. I need to look up all but the largest one, Shagbark Oak. OOps, this is a Burr Oak.
As you can see I am using the sketchbook I made. I really like having my favorite paper in this sketchbook. It makes sketching much easier.

Lovely sketches and I love the paper. We have some lovely pink flowers blooming.. They are fall blooming Anenomies..I think that is the spelling. I took some pix of them and will post them soon.

Oh, how pretty these are, Lisa! The acorns are devine!!! It makes such a difference in which paper you use! Your book is wonderful.

Beautifully done - I love those seedpods and acorns, too. Such a nice range of browns. I had a Cardinal vine years ago, and they are so pretty and feathery - you did a great job capturing it!

Even your acorns are lovely~I never think of them as pretty subjects, but they are~I am not an artist, but my bff is a papermaker and she would agree that the paper makes a big difference. gail
My oak tree has smallish acorns. I've been wondering what kind of oak those long dark acorns come from. Now you've got me wondering how many different kinds there are.
I just really like acorns; probably because we don't have many oaks here. Those are such rich drawings; they do make me think of fall. I still have cone flowers, pansies, zinnias and asters blooming.
Hello there, what fabulous sketches. What paper did you put in your sketch book? We still have montbretia in flower, plus cosmos, geranium, kafir lily, roses and lots more! It's pretty mild here and no frosts yet to kill them off luckily for us.

Oh, your acorn paintings are very pretty. Yuccas are harder to paint, but yours look nice. I usually cut my stems off right after they bloom as I don't want them to reseed.
Very dry here, as well. I was hoping to see some signs of rain soon, but no.

Oh Lisa! Your nature journalling is so beautiful. I just love the acorns. I want to do this too now. Thanks for the inspiration I have needed to pull me out of a slump. Self made sketch book is a winner too.
