This summer we had so many different types of wasps, bees and flies on the curly mint that was blooming. I tried to draw them and then id them. Not all were id'd. I usually use colred pencils when I do bugs. They usually have lots of detail. Happy Animal Wednesday everyone.

wow, the detail on this is great! I just was looking at some pictures from the summer and thinking about drawing a bee, but didn't have time. I like the thought of going back to summer pictures and remembering the sometimes scary buzz of a bee - either looking for food or a mean sting!
(word verification is "downwomn" - how funny
You have such talent, Lisa!
I have a question and thought I'd ask it here. I'd like to get Tom some binoculars for his birthday. We aren't really birders in that we don't go out and about looking for them, but we do enjoy seeing the ones who visit the feeders, and are around in the summer. What I'm saying is they don't have to be super duper binoculars, just something better than the ones we have now. Thanks for any advice, and you may answer here, as I'll be back, and I wouldn't want Tom to read your comment!
wow i feel as if i've seen this one before...how wierd is that? maye in my previous life? HAW
You always do so well on these little 'animals' Lisa. You and colored pencils work well together.

Very cool bee/wasp! I like the colors you used!
Nan, my SIL bought a pair of Swift 8x40 bins that are real good for around $100. If you can find them they would be a good buy. Other than these I think if you go to a Mart you can find something suitable or go to Eagle Optics on line and they are very helpful.
I am glad you like my wasp.
What's the saying: "bees of summer" ... or is that "boys of summer?" Both are summer creatures.
Thanks a million, Lisa!!
What a beautiful detailed wasp!
It is not one of my favorite animals but they sure have a task beside bugging me. And all creatures are beautiful! This one is real like life!
Happy Halloween Lisa!
Dear Lisa,
Pretty wasp in your journal!
Will you do an almanac? I see a garden journal all decorated with your lovely drawings...
