Sunday Safari - Deer, Redwings

My Dearly Beloved and I went out for awhile this morning. We drove to an area that is being converted back to wetlands. We were lucky enough to see two more Whooping Cranes. They were tagged so I am sure they are being monitored. They looked quite happy to be in this renewed wetland. We also saw a small herd of White-tailed Deer. They took off running with those tails waving. I just had to try to capture them. I did so from a picture I asked my DB to take. It was difficult for him because they took off as soon as they saw us stop.

The Red-wing blackbirds were all on territory. It was fun hearing their calls. It sounded like a true spring day.
Did you have a Safari this weekend? What inspired you this weekend?? For more Sunday Safari excitment go over to Sherry's blog Q's Corner.

wonderful sketches and recollections Lisa.

My safari was INDOORS again as even more snow fell. Really? Are you kidding? This just has to stop.

But I managed to have a lovely, creative day in spite of it!

I just want my life back where I had the windows open 340 days of the year.
Yeah, like that will happen here!

I love love love redwing blackbirds.

Love these sketches Lisa. You really captured the moment. Nothing like spring sounds from that wonderful bird.

I would love to hear spring sounds right now! The redwing looks really pretty, I bet it sounded great. I had an indoor safari with my two dogs...not really a safari at all, more like a day stuck indoors. Soon. Soon!

That bird painting is awesome!!! So sweet! This weekend I have enjoyed seeing a different bird at the feeder and birdbath...looking in my bird book, I think it may be a Catbird. Interesting!!!

Great drawings.. Spring is coming. I got a call this morning from my neighbor..Seems the Ducks are back eating in her yard. Which they only do in Spring time and until the babies they have leave for good. This is Our first positive sign of spring for us as we will see them in our yard soon... But its still a bit nasty out with wind and cold air. Soon tho.

No, I didn't have a Sunday Safari, but I enjoyed seeing yours very much. I love your sketch of the wetlands. Around here EVERYTHING is a wetland! So much rain!
Your Redwinged Blackbird is so pretty. I like these birds, even if they are considered vermin by the farmers.

Went on a safari yesterday. On the hill above the village. Since the hunters are gone, the animals are back. Several rabits and partridges.

Lovely safari Lisa and beautiful paintings.
A wonderful way to keep a record of your outings with DB.
Loved seeing your Redwing....totally different to our winter visitors.

I was in Cornwall with Mr P last weekend. A weeks break has been just what we both needed.

Wow, whooping cranes. I bet that was a wonderful sight and white-tailed deer. I haven't seen deer in years. Lots and lots of moose, but no deer. That's Alaska for you.

A couple weeks ago I had two feeders full of redwing blackbirds. It was really, really cold out. I had some old seed which I needed to get rid of, so I didn't care they ate like piggies. When they left I put out more seed for the smaller birds. These are great pieces, Lisa. Looks so peaceful in the top painting.
