The best bird of this weekend was a Surf Scoter that we saw in a pond we check in our normal birding area. This is not a normal bird to see around here. This is a sea duck. Not a duck you see inland normallly. What ever brought this adult male into our area is ok with me. It was great fun to see it. It is an all black duck except for these colorful bits I have shown. Have you ever seen one?

I have never seen one in my life. How funny to see them in a place they don't belong....Kind of bonus for a bird lover ;)

I had a hard time figuring it out with that strange beak. Wow. Its amazing. I have no clue either. Someone must know. Did you get a photo of it too? Its a strange duck from the deep lagoon...:))
I never saw one either but I am not surprised he flew in by you two knowing how you love birds. You really captured his amazing looks so well.

I have never seen one to my knowledge!!! Neat bill. Love the tufted hair too!!! I see that they are on the Atlantic coast, so maybe i have seen one but did not pay attention! I will have to keep my eyes open now!
