Animal Wednesday - Bugs

It is that time of year. The bugs are coming out and it is such fun to come upon one that I can't identify. It must depend on water as I found it right next to the Wabash River this spring.
Happy Animal Wednesday to all. I hope you are enjoying your spring.

Is that a water skimmer? (or something like that.)

Great job on the detail!

This thing was quite long, like 2". It wasn't in the river but beside it on a railing. There were several there. An odd creature.

Lisa - ONLY YOU can make me say a bug (other than a Lady Bug or Dragonfly) can be fascinating.... this one certainly is!

HAW!

This guy makes me think of Doc in back to the future where he wears the goggles during time travel! Great drawing, Lisa!

Really great job on the realistic bug. My first thought was water bug too but then I thought 'lake fly' as they are that big around here. Ah, you know spring is here when the bugs announce it.

Just happened by and saw this. No idea what the bug is but he's a handsome devil.

Have you checked buggguide to get an identification? I usually use their photos. It takes time though. I quickly looked there with no luck. Interesting.
