Blooming Tuesday - Legend Oriental Lily

I have this gorgeous Oriental Lily in the garden this year. I thought it so pretty I tried to preserve it by painting it. It turned out ok. Then I decided it needed a dark background to make it stand out more.
I hate the way it turned out. I have more trouble with backgrounds. Do you?? It is very frustrating to me.
I hope you had a less frustrating Tuesday. Happy Blooming Tuesday anyway.

I agree with Julie. I love the background. I think it makes the flower pop and its kind of watery looking..which is very appropriate.

I too have a hard time with backgrounds - mine always end up looking muddy. A light touch is best I think. I've really liked the way Studio Lolo paints on scrapbook paper but she's using acrylics, not water color when doing that. The background you painted does make your flower show up better so I think you accomplished your goal! I'm trying to get back into visiting my blogger friends - I looked back through several posts - I want to go to the Grand Canyon some day too!

Beautiful! The background looks just right. Perhaps you need a rest from it. I always need a rest from a piece to appreciate it.

Hey the background is perfect. The beautiful lilly is all I can see anyway so the background is doing the job...making the subject stand out and take a bow.
