New Toys

Last weekned was so beautiful weather-wise I decided I had to go outside and actually use a travel set of water colors I bought several years ago. It was sort of like my bathing suit. I packed it just in case. I can't tell you how many trips and the wonderful places this watercolor set has been and NEVER been used until this weekend.

Crazy as it sounds it is true. So I set up outside in the Casa de Pantella to do some painting. I figured if I broke it in here I wouldn't be so timid about taking it out where we travel. Well, I am glad I did this here. It took quite awhile to tear off the cellophane wrapping on every little color. If I was on vacation I would probably give up before I got them all unwrapped.
I was concerned that I couldn't mix enough color in the small compartments for a painting. Well, just another excuse in my head I guess. I painted a couple of ATC's with this little set and I am quite pleased with the ease and colors available here.
I guess I am telling you this because I want to feel free to do more painting. I hope that everyone that reads this is inspired to take out their travel paints and do up a picture. Don't be timid like me. It is fun.

You'll have to "re-post" the water paint holder (does it have a name?) after you christen it. Plus your best painting!

I love this idea! I also like to make ATC's on vacations and trips! I need to take a painting class again!

What a surprise to find you with my travel paint set! Once in awhile I even wash it out:) I have found that I can squeeze in a few more pans and I also use a water brush which makes it all fit in my purse perfectly.

I did buy a smaller one that lives in my purse now but have not used it yet.

So happy you found the fun in this. Maybe I'll post my sets again-old and new.

Have fun!!!

So good you had fun! Like you, I hesitate to take my drawing stuff out, but that's a bit stupid. It is fun, hurts nobody, and if by-passers don't like what you do, you'll probably never meet them again, So what? But still, I often bring my stuff with me, but rarely take it out. The main reason is that I can't draw or paint, just doodle :-)

Robert, this is just called a travel paint set. It is made by Winsor Newton. I might have to give it a name so I don't have to type all of that.

Julie I think painting classes are fun. I always learn something new. I haven't been able to go to my class the past couple of weeks. I hate that but life does interfere sometimes.

Teri, I didn't know they made a smaller tpc. I thought I had the smallest one. I know there was a larger one but glad I didn't buy it. This one is so easy to travel with. I have taken to carrying a larger purse since I carry a sketch book. I could go up a size in purses to get my tps in it. There are plenty of choices now as large purses are in vogue.

I would love to see your sets as I didn't see them the first time.

Oh Vero, you are so talented with the sewing needle. I bet it would translate to paints if you painted more often. I am a beginner with paints too. It is such fun.

I'm not a painter but this looks more than fun! We have a travel chess set, a traveling cribbage board, a travel trailer and even a travel drum set (our son's) but what a great little set. I'll be anticipating some more colorful posts!
