Doggie Thursday and More

Luna said she wanted to get out on this beautiful day and smell the roses. Well, the roses aren't blooming but a bunch of lwildflowers are. While watching some of the ball games I drew this Double-crested Cormorant Nest. I am always facinated with them. They pick up all sorts of things that are lying around. This one has a piece of rope, feather, a whole wing of a Great Blue Heron and a piece of metal. There is a rock where the egg should be. I have noticed that they do put big flat rocks in the center of their nests. I don't know why.

Luna, what a neat name! I love your drawing..what did you use?

Maybe they put the rock in so the wind doesn't blow it away. Which brings me to the next question; how on earth do they get it there?! I am visualizing two birds, one on each end of the rock, flying to their nest. Wonderful drawing.

AU, thanks, I am glad you liked my drawing. I used ink and put a little color in it with colored pencils.

I wonder about the rock too. The rock isn't so big that the cormorant can't pick it up. They build their nests on the ground so it isn't too difficult for them.

That nest is amazing. The moods and the mysteries your artwork capture always leave me feeling curious and creative.

Dear Lisa,
Drawing the nest was a great idea. The wing and the rock are so interesting.
My daughter showed me how to use water color pencils. I want to get some.

Luna is so beautiful. I really wanted to name Molly Luna so that I'd have a Moon and a Luna-but Molly is a Molly through and through.
