Animal Wednesday - Bee Eater

I am finally finished with my big line art project. Project it was too. I will think long and hard before I agree to do something like that again.  It ate all of my creative time. UGH...
I had to dip into a sketchbook I don't often use to find something I hadn't posted before. It is another bee eater I did in colored pencil. It is on a larger scale than I usually work on. I started to do the background then stopped because there was so much paper to cover. I couldn't use watercolors on it because the paper won't take it.  Sigh... I hope all is back to normal around here soon.  HAW to you all...

Beautiful Bee Eater Lisa (I love birding!) the colors are gorgeous and I love how you rendered the feathers. I've come up against the background issue in colored pencil many times,it is so frustrating to cover large areas. VERY recently I've tried learning photoshop and was able to add a digital background a couple of times. My most successful attempt so far is here, if you get a chance:

I have no intentions of completely converting to digital, because I love my pencils too much and watercolor too - but if I'm in a time crunch I give it a try as a supplemental tool. I've still got a lot to learn. Glad your project is done, take a deep breath! HAW

I know how those big volunteer projects go too. I get sucked in more often than I want to admit. I just agreed last night to be the coordinator for all the props, background, etc for our church's VBS program. Hoping for more of your own time coming your way soon!

It is a good feeling to finish a big successful project like that and now onto your own creative time.

This guy is wonderful and I like the background the way it is.
