Animal Wednesday

It is that time of the year when I spend a lot of time and energy in the garden.  I like to get the flower beds ready for the growing season. In the evening when I come in and collapse in a chair I grab my garden journal and write what goes on during the day. I have done few sketches.
I found an old wasp nest. It won't be long and the wasps will be out and about. I also found an old egg case of a bag worm.  This one was actually on a deciduous tree rather than an evergreen where I usually find them. I first drew it with colored pencils. I didn't quite like it. So I tried with micron pen. Didn't quite like that either but here it is.
Luna has also felt the effects of being outside in the fresh air most of the day. She has actually plopped down long enough for me to try to sketch her. She doesn't like for people to stare at her so I don't get an opportunity to sketch her often.

I hope everyone is able to get out in this lovely spring weather and enjoy living.  Happy Animal Wednesday.  For more animal drawings go to Mim's here.

What is it about dogs and staring? it must be some kind of power play that makes them nervous. Anyway, lovely sketches. We haven't been out to the garden yet, but will start this weekend we hope.

HAW to you and Luna

Love your wasp nest sketch, and the one of Luna...

The weather is so excellent, isn't it? Every once in a while I jump over to Greenbow Gardens and see what is going on over there too! FUN!!!

I need to get out and get my flowerbeds ready to plant seeds. I need to rake too. Our weather isn't that nice right now though.

Love your journaling.

Lovely sketches Lisa.......what a beautiful reminder of all you find in your garden.

I love the fact that Luna does not like people to stare at her......don't know why but it makes me smile...cute dog.
Love your sketches of her, done with much love, I am sure.......

Looking right into a dog's eyes is interpreted as a dominance thing. If she looks away it's because she considers you the leader of the pack. It's a respect thing ;)

Either that or she's shy!

I love the sketch of her plopped over. And I'm loving this 62 degree day!!

I like the texture you created! :)
My pooch won't lay still long enough for a sketch. I have to resort to pictures, lol... :) she knows if I'm looking at her.

Hi Lisa! At least you still have enough energy to sketch at night. I just fall into my favorite chair and nod off. Love this transitional time of year when so much activity is going on outside! Enjoy!

Lovely sketches Lisa, nature is a treat to draw from - glad you had a chance to draw Luna, even when my Cosmo lies down long enough for me to draw him, he still moves around trying to get comfy!

Dear Lisa,
We also have been out cleaning flower beds. It is so muddy we cannot plant the potatoes yet!
Lovely sunny day today but snow is forcasted for Saturday, the 1st day of Spring. I feel tired this evening but happy to have so many of the beds ready for the season.
Luna looks tired!

Gorgeous sketches. The top one especially. Drawing dogs can be tricky. Lucky Luna was resting!

I really admire the way you know who and what is in your garden and how you take such good care of it. You educate me.
