At this time of year
it's difficult not to be still
snowfall muffles noise
Activity halts
nerves are soothed by
natures cool blanket
The fireplace draws us
to its side like Mother's arms
welcoming and warm
A cup of hot tea
can have the same affect
enjoyed with memories

Thanks for a moment of "pause," Lisa!
How poetic you are today!
I love the shrouded moon anticipating a storm.
We had soft flurries this morning, now it's just bitter cold and windy. I'm hunkered in the studio though, ready to create.
:) ♥
Not snow.. but you remind of chilly winters of Punjab..India.. oh I miss them so much..
What a beautiful post. The verses soothed me simply by reading them and looking at your photo. Happy Solsticee, Lisa.
Very peaceful! I like how you compare the fireplace to mother's arms. And, yes, memories, stirred into tea, make it so much better.
Wow wonderfully written .. simple and beautiful
But dont you think the first para and the second make a slightly contradictory statement
lovely and I think you forgot the "not" Not difficult to be still
Suki, I added not. Maybe that will make more sense.
Achalkothari, you are right it does contradict itself. I just followed my thoughts on this one without thinking about what exactly I was writing. How is that for contradiction?. :)
I love this... wonderful moment you have captured.
Beautiful poem, Lisa! I am sitting here enjoying a cup of hot tea while reading it! Thanks!!!
That's beautiful Lisa - very calming.
Mmmmm...simply lovely...both your words and this image...Peace...♥
I love moments like these best. Time for reflection. Time for thankfulness.
I missed this previously. What a gem, Lisa. Thanks.
