Noticing Autumn

Despite all the football I have not been ignoring the changing of the seasons.  I love autumn. It is a time of year that I feel like I can totally relax. Enjoy the garden. Chase after migrating birds. When I am out a lot I find the falling leaves captivate my attention. It seems to me that trees always herald the beginning of autumn's shorter days waving flags of colorful shapes and hues.
On the leaf below I found a gall. I have no idea what creature inhabited this gall. The leaf was thrown to the ground. I opened the gall and sure enough there were a few tiny, smaller than rice, white wiggly worms. I wonder what sort of tiny beasty this was. One of the mysteries of autumn.
I hope your week is filled with interesting autumnal mysteries.

wow.. nicely done. It looks like you just laid out the leaves and photographed them instead of painted them. Our leaves are falling in back but they aren't pretty. its the Liquid Amber tree that turns pretty colors and not till Nov.

I love the autumn colours, especially when the maples show their October gowns.

I love galls, some of them are really pretty, like Robins Pincushion.

Many solitary wasps start their life in galls......they do not sting by the way :)

Beautiful leaves Lisa......
