Dogs on Thursday

You all know how I hate to have my picture taken. Well, my Mom took my picture by capturing my relfection in the gazing ball. I knew she was doing this. She just doesn't think I was paying attention. Just like when she was sitting in the screen house. She took my picture through the screen but I knew she was sitting in there with the camera in her hand. She doesn't fool me.

Happy Dogs on Thursday to all my woofie friends. If you like dogs as much as I do you can go Here to see many more.

Cactus Monday - Melocactus conoideus

Happy Cactus Monday to all you cacuteers. This is my ink pen rendition of Melocactus conoideus. It is an odd looking cactus that gets this red top knot and little pink flowers come out of it.

Dogs on Thursday

Today was definitely a Doggie Thursday. I had visitors all day. As a matter of fact Vinny is going to stay a couple of days with me. Even though Vinny aggravates me sometimes he is my buddy. Even though I often would rather lie around and smell the lilacs...

this little guy is a lot of fun. He is so full of energy. He runs all over the garden.

We not only had Vinny here today but Oly also stopped by while his Mom went to the big city to have her car worked on. Oly is even smaller than Vinny. He is no trouble at all. He just likes to check out the garden then go inside and sit on the ottoman and watch the world go by.

I hope you had a great Doggie Thursday. Please join us next Thursday at Dogs on Thursday.

What treasures lurk beneath this orchid on this very special Bloom Day you ask?. Why they are ATC's created by the divine mz Soulbrush. I can't thank you enough Soul for sending these ATC's so promptly. I will be getting your goodies into the post soon. My heart was leaping for joy when I found this packet waiting to be opened. Watching TV

This week I have been busy in the garden. Working in the garden wears me out this time of year because after being so sedentary all winter I dive into the garden work like there is no tomorrow. All this said I have been too tired in the evening to do much. My brain shuts down with my body after working in the garden all day. So I have been watching more tv. UGH... So I have sat there with my sketchbook hoping something will jump out at me. A few things did and I tried sketching really fast as items I was interested in weren't on the screen very long. I hope you all have a busy fun filled weekend. We sure are. We had our first party in the Screen House last evening. It was finally warm enough to be outside during the evening hours. Yipee...

Cactus Monday - Sam & Pam in London

Sam and Pam are having a grand time in London. Pam said "Doesn't Big Ben make you feel small?" Sam said "It sure does. I'm hungry". I hope all of you Cacuteers are having a good Monday and you have already recovered from eating all the chocolate candy that the Easter Bunny left for you. Happy Cactus Monday.

Doggie Thursday

Yes, it is that time of week again. When all of us dog lovers want to let our dogs do our post for the day. Here we find Luna about to have a session of me trying to take a picture of her. I have whined to Diane who is a professional photographer about my inability to take decent pictures of my camera hating dog. She has recently written an entire post about how to go about this.

Firstly you wear your dog out playing with her/him. I have done this as you can see. It doesn't take much with Luna since she is the Queen of sleeping as opposed to Apollo the King of sleep. Here she is properly worn out and is about to relax for a spell. Aahhh yes, the evening sun is warm and a girl does like to collect a few rays whenever possible.
Hmmmm, what was that? Was that a bird or a butterfly that just buzzed me.?
Mmm. Is it about time for a snack.?Naw... I think...
I'll just have a little shut eye.
Umhmm.
I'm dreaming of a pork chop. Happy Doggie Thursday to all.

Animal Wednesday - Buffalo

As I was driving home from a visit with family I drove past a pasture that had some buffalo grazing along side of the highway. The sun was setting and the light gave everything a golden hue. I wish I had the reaction to stop and take a picture of the animals grazing here. They aren't in this pasture often and the light will probably never be the same. It is just a picture that stuck in my head. It was much prettier than I could ever depict obviously. It was just one of "those" moments. Happy Animal Wednesday all...

Blooming Tuesday

I must say I feel like I am cheating. I drew this columbine in my garden journal in April 2003. I wasn't thinking that I was very artistic at the time but I have always wanted to be. So since I have been looking through old journals trying to find the names of certain flowers I found this little sketch and thought I would share it with you. The columbines aren't blooming here yet. They are forming the buds now. I hope they don't get frozen off the next day or so. We are under a freeze warning. I hope you all are warm and are having a bloomin good time this Tuesday.

Cactus Monday - Cousins

Last week on Cactus Monday there was made mention of cousins going to London to visit Senita and Joe. Well, here in Indiana some other cousins decided not to be left out of the visiting. They are ready to hop a plane to head to London to visit Senita and Joe. Happy Cactus Monday one and all.

Doodles

I don't know how people that work full time can get any art work accomplished. I worked full time this week, including today. I don't have children at home. I didn't have a husband at home either this week and I still didn't find time to do much other than doodle. All I can say is that I admire people who work full time and find time to do art. I hope you have a good weekend.

Doggie Thursday and More

Luna said she wanted to get out on this beautiful day and smell the roses. Well, the roses aren't blooming but a bunch of lwildflowers are. While watching some of the ball games I drew this Double-crested Cormorant Nest. I am always facinated with them. They pick up all sorts of things that are lying around. This one has a piece of rope, feather, a whole wing of a Great Blue Heron and a piece of metal. There is a rock where the egg should be. I have noticed that they do put big flat rocks in the center of their nests. I don't know why.

Animal Wednesday - Eastern Box Turtle

This tortoise passed by us while we were out birding one day. I took a picture of him/her and drew it. I wanted to get some paint on it before posting it. Obviously I didn't get that little project done. I just love their faces. They look so old and wise. HAW to all.

Animal Wednesday - Orange Tip Butterfly

I was reading Cheryl excitement about finding a beautiful butterfly for the first time in her garden. It is an Orange tip. She has beautiful photographs of it on her blog. They inspired me to draw her treasure. It is done in colored pencil. I can't wait to find our first butterfly in the garden. It won't be one of these beauties. HAW to all.
