I will have to say today's animal is another in my bee series. This one happens to be Gary's Bee. Soon I won't have any bees to paint. It is supposed to be unusually cool the next couple of nights. Happy Animal Wedensday to all.

Cactus Monday - SNF
When Sunday Night Football was showing all the pregame hooplah I couldn't resist the cactus that they showed when showing the front of the AZ Cardinals stadium. I was doing a major doodle when the game got going. Happily the Colts won. It made for a Happy Cacuteer this morning. HCM to all.

T is for Toad
While you might not think that frogs that live in bromeliads in Brazil are toads, to this artist they certainly are. I love the pretty red blooms that support the little toads. They are hopping their way to Lynn. Hoppy day to all.

Animal Wednesday - Orangutan
A pen drawing of an orangutan as seen in the Nature Conservancy magazine. They are so human-like. Just look at those hands and those eyes.
Happy Animal Wednesday everyone.

Cactus Monday - Lily Inspired
Hello Cacuteers, I was in front of the tv most of the day yesterday so I got a cactus ready for today. I did this with the trusty ole markers. They don't blend well but this is what was at hand when I had my inspiration for the bloom. This summer I saw a beautiful lily with dots on it. I figure somewhere in the world there is a cactus with a dotted bloom. Happy Cactus Monday. For more cactus go to Teri's Painted Daisies.

Thankful Thursday
I received this wonderful ABC ATC from Studio Lolo this week. It is R is for Raven and Rosehips. It is just gorgeous. I am especially thrilled to also get a card that matches. Just wonderful Lolo, thank you so much.
You can imagine my surprise and delight at receiving a packet from Yoon See. She sent me this print of one of her paintings.
A sweet little notebook/sketchbook with one of her drawings on the front and a couple of her other drawings.
And to top it all off she sent me a set of collector stamps that are pictures of insects. She obviously pays attention to my paintings as I often do bugs. I can't thank you enough for your thoughtfulness Yoon See.

Animal Wednesday - Leopold
While at the In-laws the past couple of days I spend time out on the back porch. The neighbors cat came to visit. The neighbors call the cat Grey Cat and my MIL calls the cat Leopold. He responds to you calling him Leopold. He is a nice porch kitty. I didn't have anything but a blue pen when I was out there so I just tried to sketch him quickly. Happy Animal Wednesday.

Almost Plein Air Painting
On a pretty day this week a friend and I decided to drive around and find an interesting subject to paint. She paints with oils and I use watercolors. We thought it would be fun to see how we each interpret the same scene. Well, we found a scene we liked. An old round barn built in 1908 according to the sign on the front of it but it was sitting smack dab in the middle of a pasture in full sun. It was too hot to be out there painting. So I took a picture of it and we went back to my patio to paint. As you can see our supervisor kept a keen eye on the table just in case we decided to have a snack while painting.
Below is my version of the barn. I wish Theresa would let me put hers up here. She did a great job. Maybe next time. Every time I look at mine I want to change something. ha... I guess that is the way it goes??

Thankful Thursday
A plate of beautiful oysters arrived here from Mim this week. I just love the embossed card it arrived in too. I wanted to show this atc up close as I could so you could see that the oysters were glittering as if sunlight was reflecting from them. The little fishes are such a cute touch too.
