Lately I have been consumed by my garden. This time of year is the time I have to devote the most time to it. Getting it into shape for the summer season. Luna is ever vigilant helper. She patrols the fenceline to keep the critters out of the garden. Of course she will pause occasionally to begrudgingly give me a chance to get her photo.

ATCs for Trade
I have been a little busy making some ATCs. These aren't of the ABC variety. I have been rethinking my ABCs but that is another train of thought. Now I am posting some ATCs for trade. I am sorry about the quality of photos but my camera must have low batteries is all I can figure. Anyway this first one is the last frog I have made. His name is Star Butts. The next three are painted on some hand made paper that has long prairie grass in it so I painted prairie flowers on them. This is Queen of the Prairie.
New Hat
I was able to find a new sun hat while away. I just love this type of hat. It is light weigh which makes it comfortable in the heat of summer. I had one a couple of years ago and lost it. Luckily I was able to buy another while at Magee Marsh in their gift shop. I get a good hat and support the marsh at the same time.

Back from Vacation
We had a marvelous time on vacation. We spent several days in Ohio at Magee Marsh. This is a spring birding mecca. Birds stop here on their northern migration to rest and refuel before their last grueling flight across Lake Erie. The big draw is that the shrubby trees provide what the birds need and what people like...birds down low to view. This trip it seems like I had absolutely no time to myself. I sketched very little. SIGH~~ I was so happy to return home to find some ATCs in the pile of mail. It is always fun to receive these but these were the official welcome home for me.
I want to thank Marianne for these beautiful mandalas. Marianne is the Queen of Mandalas. Plus the card has one on the front, so nice. I love the touch of sparkles on each mandala. It seems to bring them alive.

I also received my first ever cloth ATC. I think these are amazing. Thank you Lynn. These cloth ATCs look so intricate with different color threads and the irridescent cloth is intrigueing. The iris photo on the card is so appropriate for this time of year as my irises are all abloom. I am glad I got home from vacation in time to enjoy some of the late bloomers.

Maverick Monday
I have been wanting to try this style of watercolor book for some time. I finally finished my last sketchbook so this is the perfect opportunity to use this sketchbook. Also my Dearly Beloved and I are going North to visit family and bird so this is going to be my travel journal.
The front of this is terribly plain. I thought about drawing on it but I have my book making cover material so I decided to just cover it.Wallpaper is what I use to cover books I make and just about most other stuff. I just love string wallpaper so this is what I chose to cover it. It has such nice texture, it feels good to hold it.

ATC Trades
Yesterday was my day to celebrate Mother's Day since my daughter was able to come visit. To top of the day I received not one but two fun ATCs that I traded for. This first one is from Cris an Artist in Oregon. She not only sent the cute ATC cards I liked so well she sent them in a photo card and the photo is of one of her paintings. It is marvelous. I thought it was a scene she photographed at a marsh area of egrets and flamingos. She must know of my love of birds. Thank you so much Cris. Mim sent me the most marvelous fish. If you follow her blog you know she has a "thing" for fish. I love having a couple of fish from your pond Mim. Thank you so much.

Good Luck
I am sorry to say I haven't a cactus in me this week. Happy Cactus Monday anyway. I did make a couple of Four-leaf Clovers after seeing some posted on other blogs. That is the real four-leaf clovers. I don't remember finding one since I was a child. I have plenty of clover in the garden. I just can't seem to find the 4-leafed variety. If either of these appeal to someone I would be happy to trade. Good luck to everyone. BTW the first one is done in colored pencil and the second one is done with sharpies if that makes a difference to someone. Cheers...

Sky Watch Friday 5-1-09
We went birding this week hoping that the sun would come slashing through the clouds. It tried valiently to do so, however the rain clouds won. Happy May Day and Sky Watch Friday. For more skies to watch around the world go here.
