Animal Wedensday - Carrion Beetle
This is a sketch of a Carrion Beetle that landed on our truck while we were out and about this summer. It was the first time I had seen one of these beetles. It landed and when I put the camera up close to get its picture it reared up at me. Interesting creature. This is done with colored pencils. Happy Animal Wednesday...

All creatures great and small!!! And yes, a sort of unfortunate name ... that bug has an uphill road ahead of it to make up for such a name. Sort of like the Johnny Cash song "A Boy Named Sue."

Margaret Ann, it is about an inch long. It is as its name suggests a carrion eater. UGH...
