There is a new Haiku bog with weekly prompts called Haiku Bones if any of you like to write haiku or read haiku this looks like it will be a good place to go. This is only their third week so if you want to try something new and exciting go here.
The third week prompt is Regret.
So many years
by myself
running wild
Mother is drugged
children raising themselves
soul feels empty
Distance between hearts
empty spaces treacherous
love slowly fills

i so admire anyone who takes on a haiku challenge. i find it difficult. i think i'm just too wody for the short lines of haiku. yours is heartfelt and wonderful!!
Heart being pulled on here, Lisa! Wonderful job. That last one is a gem.
Chilling regret in every word of your poem, thanks for the link to Haiku Bones.
And Julie, haiku should be a breeze for you - take a happy approach. Let the prompt word create a reaction and bash down 3 lines - don't edit it, and you'll be amazed!
Not sure what all is meant by this painting, but I can relate. Similar life. And, yes, Regret.
Heartbreaking and poignant...both your words and your drawing.
powerful as a whole, but the third haiku to me is especially striking in its images.
Powerful shades of regret. Terrific word usage.
Great haikus Lisa! It is so hard to get a good mesage in such a short poem, and you did it! I will check out that website...sounds very cool!

I love the name-Haiku Bones-but look what a lovely blog title it made coupled with Regret
Thanks-Now I'm hooked on haiku again....

I love the last one! Subtle enough to allow an entire story to fill in the spaces.
