We had another tortoise sighting this weekend. It was a sweet lady trying to cross a gravel road. I had to stop and say hello. She quickly went into the grassy side. Happy Animal Wednesday.
the colors and markings on this tortoise are lovely. i always gulp with fear when i see a turtle or tortoise crossing the road. they are so slow. slow is good of course but i dont want them to get mashed.

I would love to get up close to a tortoise like that. I've seen them on the road when we've traveled and sadly many are dead. I'm glad you stopped to say hello and offer assistance if he wasn't moving quick enough.
What a great sketch on it. My parents once had a tortoise in their yard. it stuck around for a long time and ate her plants. I think she finally gave it to someone with no flowers to eat. :)
My husband and I are friends of the tortoise.....I fell in love with him at age 19 when he stopped his car to help a turtle cross the street. He just pulled over, got out, took said turtle to safety and got back behind the wheel of his car. He never said a word about it. As if it was a normal activity....I fell head over heels in love with him. He still stops the car, helps the turtle and resumes his drive. Wonderful drawing..... Sherry
