Several years ago we were in California birding. We came upon a prairie dog town and it had a resident burrowing owl. These little owls often take advantage of the prairie dogs chambers for their nests. I will never forget the little owl going behind a big clump of yellow California poppies and peeking at us. It's yellow eyes the same color as the poppies. I made this sketch to remind me of this memorable sighting. Haw to you all.

Thank you for stopping by ladies.
I'd love to see a burrowing owl.
I love that you do these spontaneous chronicles of art. We viewers are the lucky ones.
