November 1

This little bird is the Robin ,Erithacus rubecula, that you would find in Britain. He is the reason our American Robin got its name. When the early settlers came from England they saw our AMerican Robin with its red breast it reminded them of their Robin back home.

You have wonderfully captured its pose. I love this little bird, we always have one around our house in winter.

AC I didn't know these little fellows were in Italy. Lucky you.

Now that is interesting and something I didn't know. You always do such a wonderful job on birds. Hard to tell they are special in your life.

It's really interesting how places and creatures get their name. And more broadly speaking, isn't it true that we see "new worlds" from the lens of the world we came?
